My name is Yerko Dekovic, a 33 year
old adventurer– born in Chile, raised in
Venezuela and California, USA.  I was
lucky enough to go to the University of
Southern California where I graduated
with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.  I
have been working in the Aerospace
field for the last 10 years, the last six as
a Propulsion Test Engineer for Boeing's
Satellite division.
I have always enjoyed traveling, and the
idea of driving from California to Chile
and surfing along the way was born due
to the horrible September 11 attacks.
During the attacks, my coworker was
one of the many that perished.  So, life
is short and should be lived because it
can end before one is ready.  Since
then, I have been dreaming, planning,
and saving a few pesos.
The plan for this trip is quite simple,
head South, stop when necessary or
where there is good surf and end in
Ushuai Argentina– the southernmost
city connected by road.  Along the way I
hope to see amazing sights, overcome
the inevitable mechanical breakdowns,
meet genuine people and be
surrounded by nature.
I love the outdoors, be it hiking, skiing,
camping, motorcycling or surfing.
